Biography
Elizabeth Beck is a highly-sought after violinist known for her passionately sensitive playing and commitment to creating captivating musical experiences that engage people of diverse backgrounds.
As an orchestra musician, Elizabeth has played under the baton of the world’s most prestigious conductors, including Leonard Slatkin, Kurt Masur, Ken-David Masur, and George Manahan. Elizabeth has performed on live radio broadcasts of “What Makes It Great” with conductor Rob Kapilow at Lincoln Center in New York and played concerts with the International Orchestra of New York and the MSM Symphony Orchestra in Carnegie Hall’s Perlman/Stern Auditorium to sold-out audiences. After working extensively on orchestral repertoire with Alexander Kerr, concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for her post-graduate studies, Elizabeth was recently awarded a first-violin core position with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra. She is also a regular substitute violinist with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana Philharmonic, Plano Symphony Orchestra, and Texarkana Symphony Orchestra.
Elizabeth has attended multiple summer music festivals, including the Talis Chamber Music Festival in Switzerland, where she was an Academy Fellow and performed chamber music with members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. As a violinist in the highly acclaimed Chelsea Music Festival in New York City, Elizabeth performed in a variety of traditional and contemporary music concerts which garnered praise from the New York Times.
A devoted chamber musician, Elizabeth enjoys performing violin/piano masterworks with her pianist sister as the Beckthoven Duo. They have given numerous concerts, tours, and recitals throughout the United States, including in the Pacific Northwest, Texas, Louisiana, and New York City. The Beck sisters’ debut CD, December Carols, was released on the Bolo Classique label and has been featured on major classical music radio stations in the US, Europe, and Australia. “{The sisters} are incredibly polished and play with great musical insight and feeling” - Peter Winograd - 1st Violin, The American String Quartet.
As an educator, Elizabeth currently serves as Adjunct Instructor of Violin at Texas Baptist College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. A passionate teacher of all ages and backgrounds, Elizabeth brings her relentless energy and creativity to her thriving private violin studio where she helps students prepare for Texas All-State/Regional auditions in which she once held Concertmaster and Principal chair positions.Elizabeth plays on a Marconcini violin from 1805 and is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music (B.M. ’18, M.M. ’20) where she studied with renown Russian pedagogue, Isaac Malkin.
When she’s not teaching or performing, Elizabeth enjoys testing out recipes from her travels and teaching her poodle puppy, Darcy, new tricks. An avid baker, Elizabeth is grateful to be back home in the South where making three desserts a week is standard practice and exercise is always optional.
